La Passion Rend Indestructible
By Christian Gonzalez

As usual, he's got a cold,"No, it's nothing"... At 9 am in jeans and sneakers his hair blond as straw and badly combed, his eyes hidden behind yellow tinted sunglasses, Christopher arrives at his parisian palace where he gives interviews, his mobile phone stuck to his ear. When he's not on flights between 2 continents he spends his time on the phone, even on planes.

He greets you with his smile which seems like a child's, ( he believes that "If we keep a side of us as a child and a certain naivete about ourselves we will always get by"). He continues his phone conversation in the lift then into his suite with long strides. For once he has shaved, but, not too much. He hangs up. "Right, I'm not taking any more calls otherwise we can't talk, how are you?! He grabs a croissant and eats it. This guy stays intact in spite of his success he's one of the few in his profession who doesn't suffer from the 'me' syndrome.

Today he's about to become the real real star in U.S. grace of 'Mortal Combat' which has already gained $75 million at the box office with Mortal Combat II already thought about. "You know its 15 years since I started acting, a job with ups and downs it's taught me to pass with ease from positive things to negative things, to not be afraid to be sad or jubilant. The most important thing that's exciting is that which is happening now. I'm very happy I went to U.S. and am winning internationally". Mortal Combat is inspired by a video game a very popular one amongst video games. "I know the game. At first I hesitated because there have been other less good films about video games eg. "Super Mario and Streetfighter. But this one has quality. 'He is Rayden The Thunder God'" ( to be a god is flattering for the ego.) and we imagine that Christopher had lots of fun during the filming in Thailand. He confirms that "To enjoy a film is the main thing if you are motivated by a passion you are indestructible." He usually finishes his phrases by etc, etc.. as if he's in a hurry to get on to other subjects which is often the case. At the beginning of next year he's in "Grand Nord" (Big North) directed by a Norwegian Nils *Cramp?* After he's filming in France "Hercule and Sherlock" partnered with Richard Anconinca who was his partner in 'Paroles and Music'. They work well together as he worked well with Philippe Noiret in 'Max and Jeremy' and Sean Connery in Highlander and also with Catherine Deneuve in 'Paroles and Music'. And finally there is another film on programme Adrenalin. If the film is as good as the script and as terrifying it will be real scary.

Last year he divorced Diane Lane."It wasn't boredom that killed our marriage because we never saw each other. We were always filming apart so we only lived together by phone. It was the continual separations and get togethers again that spoiled everything." "After 10 years we don't always feel like seducing our wife each time we meet" "In a way it was my fault because after 4 months apart I'd spend hours on the phone, who'd accept that?" They've still stayed best friends and get on well. They have a daughter of 2 years, Eleanore. "A happy child and I feel I can communicate with her as we are the same age, I consider myself her mate rather than her dad, I'll always be here to guide her but it's her choice which path in life she takes."

We know of his love of good food and wines and he's now opened in Brazil with 3 partners a restaurant/night club "le Buenos Aires News'. He's also associated with an American group 'Bon Ap' to buy a vaccuum pack ready meal factory.

He taps the end of his cigarette before he lights one up.. he's got another appointment waiting . He's 38 years old and has so much energy. He says"Its a career that obliges you to be constantly hyperactive, but concerning Christopher it's not an obligation with him it's a natural leaning.
